Introduction

To help manage the potentially long list of amendments, we use filters.  The filter can be used as part of workflow activities: filtering by status “draft” will give you a quick way of selecting all amendments for tabling/lodging if you were a Parliament user.  Alternatively, selecting a particular location will provide a quick way of checking whether any other amendment already exists for the same amendment that you are potentially about to draft.

How to filter amendments

  1. Click on the Magnifying Glass/‘Filter’ button on the ‘Amendment Manager’ tab - it is on the far right hand side.
  2. Select any of the following filter options:
    1. Amendment Number or unique reference
    2. List of Draft Amendments (LoDA) name (you can select one or more)
    3. Location (section/clause, schedule, target amendment being amended, long title or appropriate place amendments)
    4. Status (you can select one or more)
    5. Member (searches for any amendment that the Member appears as a proposers or a supporter)
    6. Comment (searches for a word or phrase in the amendment comments)
  3. The system will return any matching amendments

Quick Filter

Lawmaker now has Quick Filters.  The relevant drop down menus are on the top right hand side of the Amendment Manager tab.  By clicking into the menu immediately to the right of Quick Filter, you can select

  • Draft
  • Submitted
  • Tabled
  • Ready For Publishing

These filters are sticky which means if you navigate away from this screen, they will still be applied when you get back.  If you change a bunch of Amendments from Draft to Submitted but leave the Quick Filter set to 'Draft', you will end up with an empty screen!

Hints and tips

  • The list of amendments is already filtered by bill version so filtering the list of amendments, will only return matching amendments for that bill version
  • The filter only works on amendments that you have privileges to see
  • Whenever you navigate away from the ‘Amendment Manager’ tab and return to it, your filter preference will be retained
  • You can filter by more than one criterion at the same time
  • The List of Draft Amendments (LoDA) filter will offer a drop-down menu containing any existing LoDAs that you have permission to view.  If there are no LoDAs this drop-down will be disabled.
  • If you type "Amendment" in the location field, all 'amendments to amendments' will be returned (SP & UK amendments)

Commons amendments only

  • If you type "new clause" or "new clauses" in the 'Location' field, all new Clause amendments will be returned.  The same applies for new schedule amendments
  • If you type "All Agreed" in the 'current status' field, the system will return all "Agreed to" and "Agreed to on division" amendments
  • No labels
