For particularly large documents, running operations like 'Renumber' or 'Update x-ref' or inserting front/back covers can be slow. We have therefore built a 'finalisation' action from the 'Project' tab which will allow you to trigger these finalisation steps for a document without having to open the document in the Editor. It will also allow you to carry on with other tasks once the process is ongoing.
How to finalise a document
Open the project containing the document you want to finalise
Ensure all changes are saved and there are no locks on it by other users
Click on the 'Actions' dropdown menu against the working version you want to finalise and select "Finalise document"
In the dialogue box that opens, select the actions you want to perform on the document
Click 'Update' and wait for the success message when the operation is completed
Renumber will renumber all provisions in the document, including quoted structures
Update x-ref will check all existing x-refs in the document and update them accordingly - including those within quoted structures
If you select to insert the front cover, the option to insert the table of contents will be disabled as the table of contents is inserted by default when you select 'front cover'
If you select to insert a table of contents when a front cover already exists in your document, the front cover will remain and only the table of contents within it will be refreshed
If any of the operations fail, an error will be displayed and all changes up to that point will be saved.
The order that the operations run in are:
Renumber,
Update x-refs,
Insert front & back cover/Table of Contents
