Northern Ireland - training set up

Follow these steps to create all the necessary projects and documents ready for the training session. You will need to do this for each training delegate on your course.

Log on as an NIA user to create all this training data.

Drafting a bill training set up

  1. Create a training project called [Initials of delegate] Drafting a bill

  2. Upload the Drafting_a_bill.xml file in Training Module: Inserting, modifying and deleting provisions into the default Pre-Introduction folder

  3. Upload the Document_Check_Errors.xml file found in this module: https://lawmaker.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/USERMANUAL/pages/934051843 into the default Pre-Introduction folder

  4. Optional training module: Upload all the xml files (apart from the Drafting_a_bill.xml file) found in : Training Module: Copying provisions between documents creating a new folder called Copying provisions between documents to store them in

Once you’ve uploaded the bill documents, update their titles using Actions > Update Document Information on the Project tab to the title of your training project

Preparing NI bills and acts for publication set up

  1. Create a training project called [Initials of delegate] Preparing Bills and Acts for Publication Bill

  2. Upload the Candidate_for_introduction.xml file found in this module: https://lawmaker.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/USERMANUAL/pages/891879426 creating a new folder called As Introduced

  3. Once you’ve uploaded the bill, update its title using Actions > Update Document Information on the Project tab to the title of your training project

  4. Upload the Consideration_Stage_Amendments.xml file found in this module: https://lawmaker.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/USERMANUAL/pages/891944962, selecting Consideration Stage as the stage

Preparing and publishing official lists set up

  1. Create a training project called [Initials of delegate] Preparing and Publishing Official Lists Bill

  2. Upload the As_Introduced.xml file found in this module: Training Module: Generating official lists at Consideration Stage creating a new folder called As Introduced

  3. Once you’ve uploaded the bill, update its title using Actions > Update Document Information on the Project tab to the title of your training project

  4. Generate a PDF and then publish the PDF snapshot version

  5. Upload the Consideration_Stage_Amendments.xml file in this module: Training Module: Generating official lists at Consideration Stage selecting Consideration Stage as the stage

  6. Open the uploaded list of amendments and use bulk update statuses to transition them from draft to submitted

Drafting amendments inline set up

  1. Create a training project called [Initials of delegate] Drafting Amendments Inline Bill

  2. Upload the Inline_Amending_Bill.xml file found in this module: Training Module: Drafting amendments inline creating a new folder called As Introduced

  3. Once you’ve uploaded the bill, update its title using Actions > Update Document Information on the Project tab to the title of your training project

  4. Generate a PDF and then publish the PDF snapshot version

Drafting traditional amendments set up

  1. Create a training project called [Initials of delegate] Drafting Traditional Amendments Bill

  2. Upload the Traditional_Amendment_Bill.xml file found in this module: Training Module: Drafting traditional amendments creating a new folder called As Introduced

  3. Once you’ve uploaded the bill, update its title using Actions > Update Document Information on the Project tab to the title of your training project

  4. Generate a PDF and then publish the PDF snapshot version

 

 OLC training course set up instructions

Drafting a bill training set up

Log on as an OLC user to create this training data.

  1. Create a training project called [Initials of delegate] Drafting a Bill

  2. Close the v1 document that opens automatically in the Editor

  3. From the Project tab, upload the Drafting_a_bill.xml file in Training Module: Inserting, modifying and deleting provisions into the default Pre-Introduction folder, calling it [Your Initials] Drafting a Bill

  4. Still on the Project tab, upload the Document_Check_Errors.xml file found in this module: Training Module: Using document checks to validate your document into the default Pre-Introduction folder, calling it [Your Initials] Document Check Error Bill.

  5. Still on the Project tab:

    1. upload all the xml files for Exercises 1, 2 and 3 found in : Training Module: Copying provisions between documents creating a new folder called Copying provisions between documents to store them in

    2. before you create a new project for “Training Project A” in your training environment, do a search to see if the project already exists. If it doesn’t, download the xml file for exercise 4 in Training Module: Copying provisions between documents and create a new project called Training Project Ato upload it into

Important: once you’ve uploaded the bill documents, update all their titles using Actions > Update Document Information on the Project tab to the title of your training project.

Drafting traditional amendments set up

For this, you will need to log in as an NIA user so that you can publish the bill.

  1. Create a training project called [Initials of delegate] Drafting Traditional Amendments Bill

  2. From the Project tab, upload the Traditional_Amendment_Bill.xml file found in this module: Training Module: Drafting traditional amendments in a new folder called As Introduced, calling it As Introduced

  3. Once you’ve uploaded the bill, update its title using Actions > Update Document Information on the Project tab to the title of your training project

  4. Generate a PDF and then publish the PDF snapshot version
