Introduction
For the first release, the Scottish Parliament website will be continuing to publish PDF renditions of the bill. These will be supplied to the website through existing channels rather than a direct, electronic interface from Lawmaker. As such, ‘publishing’ in this context is merely marking the bill as having been published. You will need to have generated a PDF that you are happy with before you can mark the bill as having been published.
How to download a text file
- Select Download text file on the document version that you want to download a text file for
- The system will prepare a text file and save it in your local download folder
Hints and tips
- You can find the text file in your computer’s local download folder
- The text in the text file download can be copied and pasted into another flat editor e.g. Word/email etc. should you wish to share the document in an editable format with another person who did not have access to the
- This download can be pasted into existing Scottish Bill Word templates, with the text marked up using the styles in the template to recreate the bill in the existing templates. This can be used as a workaround if Lawmaker was unable to handle a particular drafting requirement and you needed to fall back on the existing tools (word template).
