By default, a quoted structure assumes the hierarchy of your inserted structure in relation to a section. For example, if you are inserting a paragraph, it assumes you are inserting a paragraph that is in a section or subsection.

You will need to adjust the indent level if the quoted structure is:

  • inserting a paragraph or sub-paragraph that is not at the default position,

 Example

Inserting a new paragraph (c) into the definition of “health care” would require an indent of 1 (otherwise the alignment of the new paragraph would default farther to the left than required because Lawmaker assumes it is a paragraph belonging to the section (or subsection if there was one)).

  • inserting or amending text that is already in a quoted structure,

 Example

This is a provision that has not yet commenced, or a section of your Bill that you are amending. If you wanted to insert a new paragraph between paragraphs (ac) and (ad), you would insert your quoted structure and set the indent to 1.
