Introduction
It is possible to You can download a zip ZIP file containing the document version’s XML as well as XML of a document version, together with any related images and the PDF if there was one stored with the document version. The main purpose of this facility is to allow users to manually upload the document onto the National Archive’s publishing system before the electronic submission is worked on in a future release
This is a required step for submitting a document to TNA’s publication system (see below for more information).
It can be useful for other purposes such as:
Creating a locally-saved backup for important documents. You can use the downloaded XML to create a new working version: see Create a new document by uploading an XML file.
Sending a document for checks prior to publication, which may be necessary if you are concerned about issues such as unconventional formatting used.
