Feature request summary

Allow users to select which comments to include in a PDF

Original description

A PCO user has asked whether it would be possible to select which comments to include in a pdf.

The use case is so that PCO can have comments in a document that are visible to PCO only, while including others that will be visible in pdf to those outwith PCO.

Two implementation options have been discussed with the user, either of which would seem to meet the use case:

  1. the ability to manually select at pdf generation time which comments to include (akin to the dialog for picking which sections to include in a pdf)
  2. the ability to filter (in or out) comments for inclusion in the pdf by keyword, e.g. the user could add to the comment a string like “For X” and then when generating a pdf choose to only include comments that contain that string.

The second option would seem preferable as it would be less burdensome for the user than having to manually select the comments to include each time a pdf is generated.

Of course there may be other implementation options that would be better.

The request for this feature is based on a slightly speculative view that it might be useful - it is not required for our ordinary working practices. And there are workarounds. I have not polled other users to establish the level of appetite for this feature. But I would put it in the lower priority category.
