Publishing NI bills (on Lawmaker & NI Assembly website)

You need to publish bills on Lawmaker to make the data available to downstream authorised users of Lawmaker’s API. In future, this will be the NIA website, but for now you will need to manually upload the Bill Content & PDF onto EPiServer

Only complete these steps when the bill version has been checked and approved for publication

How to publish a bill on Lawmaker

  1. From the Project tab, find the final working version of your bill

  2. Select Actions > Generate PDF

  3. Save the PDF in the required folder in your organisation’s repository

  4. Find the PDF snapshot you just created on the Project tab

  5. Select Actions > Publish version

Your bill version will now be made available on the Public Document Repository (PDR) which is what Lawmaker’s API connects to to make this data available to downstream authorised users e.g. NIA website (in future).

How to publish on NI Assembly Website

  1. From the Project tab, find the final working version of your bill

  2. Select Actions > Generate PDF this time selecting no line numbers

  3. Save the PDF somewhere appropriate

  4. Open MS Word

  5. Select to open a document

  6. Navigate to the non-line numbered PDF you just saved

  7. Once the document opens in Word, copy the required text from the Word document and paste into the appropriate place in EPiServer

  8. Update the headings with the required mark-up

  9. Save the line numbered PDF bill version in the appropriate location on EPiServer
