This page explains how to convert provisions (eg: paragraph, definitions, table, etc) either into Quoted Structures or how to remove the Quoted structure, so the text becomes the main body of the Bill or SI/SSI.
Introduction
In Lawmaker, Quoted Structures are ‘nested’ inside other elements such as paragraphs. Therefore, you can not remove or add the quoted structure to an existing provision, but need to ‘move’ the provision either into or out of the quoted structure.
Moving provisions out of the Quoted Structure
Use the Structure view to ‘drag and drop’ elements to another place in your document. You can only ‘drop’ provisions into valid places in your document. Before you try moving the provision, make sure you have created valid content above, where you intend the provision to go. To move elements using the quoted structure:
If needed, expand the Structure View, so it is showing the lower levels
Expand the provision, with the Quoted Structure. Continue expanding until you can see the contents of the quoted structure. If required, also expand the provision where you want move the quoted structure provision to.
Click on the provision inside the quoted structure, and while holding down the Mouse button drag the provision to where you want it to appear. When it’s in the right place release the mouse button.
Parts of the Structure View will turn red if it looks like you are trying to move the provision to an invalid place in the document and green if it is valid.

Moving Provisions into a Quoted Structure
To move provisions inside a quoted structure, first:
Click on the provision where you want the quoted structure and press Ctrl Q. For further help see Quoted structures (scrollhelp.site)
The starting element of the new quoted structure doesn’t matter too much, but for simplicity recommend using a paragraph (1) provision
Similar to the above instructions, if necessary expand the Structure View
Expand the provisions that contain the provisions to be moved AND the provision containing the newly created quoted structure.
Drag and Drop the provision into the new Quoted Structure
Finally, delete the starting element of Quoted Structure:
Click on the empty provision in the Structure view. It may look something like this
Press Delete on your keyboard
