Adding space for signature

This page explains how to add additional space for a physical signature, above the signature block in an SI/SSI.

The version created following these steps, must not be used to formally register the SI, as it will not display correctly on legislation.gov.uk

 

Step 1

When your SI is ready for signature. Click on the Actions menu next to the working version and select Duplicate version

Create a new folder and give it a meaningful name (for example ‘For signature only’ or ‘Not for processing’, and also enter a version name.

Step 2

Open the duplicated version in the Editor

Navigate to the last provision above the signature block

Press enter and select Unnumbered paragraph

Step 3

Click on the Insert Special Character icon

Select More symbols

Click in the Search box and type ‘space’

By hovering over each square find the box entitled 'no-break space'. (It should be the last box in the top row)

Click on it and click on OK

Do not worry, that you cannot see anything in the Editor

Step 4

On the breadcrumb, Click on ‘Unnumbered Paragraph’. This maybe at the top or bottom of the Editor depending on you settings

Press Ctrl C

Press Ctrl V

Repeat pressing Ctrl V, 3 or 4 times depending on how much space you want to make for the physical signature

From the document menu generate a PDF, to check you have the right amount of space.

  • If you have too much space click on the breadcrumb as described above, and press Delete on your keyboard

  • If you do not have enough space, press Ctrl V to insert further paragraphs.
