Generating the Marshalled List
When your amendment list has been checked and is ready for printing/publishing, you need to publish the list in Lawmaker in order for automated processes in the amendment list generation logic to work.
From the Amendment Manager—
Select Amendment Actions > Create Official List
Select ‘Marshalled List’
Dialog box for generating a Marshalled ListUpdate the relevant information in the dialog box and click on Create
In the Editor—
The Marshalled List will appear in a new tab in the Editor, containing all relevant amendments sorted and automatically numbered.
If it is Further Consideration Stage: delete the ‘Order of Consideration block’ from the title by selecting it in the breadcrumb and deleting the whole element.
If it is Consideration Stage: update the Order of Consideration with “Clauses & Schedules” as required.
Process and logic for auto-generating the Marshalled List
Filtering which amendments to include in the list
Amendments will appear in the Notice of Amendments if—
they were recorded as having been “tabled” up to the specified cut-off date (and time if supplied),
they do not have the status “notSelected” (amendments that were not selected will not appear in the Marshalled List), and
they do not have the status “withdrawn” or “withdrawnBeforeMoved” (withdrawn amendments will not appear in the Marshalled List)
Sorting the amendments
Amendments are sorted by the order they appear in the bill: Clauses 1-n, Schedules 1-n and Long Title amendments appearing last.
As automatic sorting in Lawmaker is limited to page and line information gleaned from the amendment, you might sometimes need to add sort codes when there are 2 or more amendments with the same location information.
Automatically assigned numbers
Amendments are automatically numbered on a Marshalled List, starting “Amendment 1” and so on.
Stand part clause/schedule motions at Consideration stage are not numbered.
Amendments to amendments are numbered.
If an amendment is sorted incorrectly, you can use the structure view to drag & drop it to the correct location and manually overwrite the assigned amendment numbers to correct them. However, unless you fix the sorting information (location information on the ‘Amendment Information’ right-hand panel) then the incorrect sorting will additionally occur in the Speaker’s Brief.
In the Editor—
Place cursor in the amendment you need to update
View ‘Amendment Information’ in the right-hand panel
Update the Sort Code to define which sort order the amendments should appear in e.g. “1” for the first and “2” for the next.
Once you have updated the amendments' location information, you can either refresh the list (Tools > Update List) or use the structure view to drag the amendment(s) to their correct location, manually fixing the amendment numbers as required.
