Generating the Annotated Marshalled List

Generating the Annotated Marshalled List

When the debate has taken place and you are ready to record the outcomes into Lawmaker and produce the annotated version of the marshalled list.

From the Official Lists tab—

  1. Find the published version of the Marshalled List (on the right-hand ‘significant version’ side)

  2. Select Actions > Duplicate version

  3. Provide a unique version description “Annotated Marshalled List” and click Create

  4. Open the duplicated version in the Editor

In the Editor—

  1. View ‘Amendment Statuses’ right-hand panel

  2. To record outcomes one-by-one—

    1. Place your cursor in the first amendment

    2. Click on the appropriate outcome button for that amendment

    3. Click on the Next > button, click on the next Amendment in the Editor or use keyboard short cut Alt + K to move to the next amendment in the list

    4. Click on the appropriate outcome button for that amendment

    5. Continue recording outcomes in this way for all remaining amendments in the list

  3. To record outcomes in bulk—

    1. Click on the Bulk update statuses button in the ‘Amendment Statuses’ right-hand panel

    2. Use the Amendments to update drop-down menu to select a subset of amendments to update with the first state transition

    3. Select the appropriate state transition e.g. “Tabled to Made”

    4. Click on Update

    5. Repeat bulk updating statuses in this way for the remaining amendments

  4. Update the title of the amendment list by adding ‘Annotated' before “Marshalled List”

  5. Save your changes

  6. Generate a PDF and check everything looks correct

  7. Close the editor

Stand part amendments

  • If you have any stand part amendments, use the stand part outcome buttons (Stand part agreed, Stand part agreed on Division, Stand part negatived, and Stand part negatived on Division)

  • Selecting these stand part outcomes will ensure the correct decision text is inserted for that stand part motion in the marshalled list

  • The outcome displayed in the Amendment Manager will map back to “Made” or “Negatived” so that you can filter these motions along with the other amendments and apply them in a batch of ‘made’ / ‘made on division'

You can change the wording of the decision text using the ‘Decision text’ input field at the bottom of the ‘Amendment Statuses’ right-hand panel in the Editor.

If you chose the wrong outcome, you can correct it by clicking on the ‘Manage lifecycle events’ link at the bottom of the ‘Amendment Statuses’ right-hand panel and deleting the outcome from the table of events which will appear in a dialog box. Use this feature with care - Lawmaker’s processes rely on these events being accurate and deleting too many of these statuses could cause unintended consequences e.g. with data on the API, applying amendments etc.
